The Concept of G20 Interfaith Forum 2019 in Kyoto
At the G20 Interfaith Forum 2019 in Kyoto, we are focusing on the following four items:
- The main theme of the G20 Summit is focused on how to achieve economic growth. While keeping this point in mind, the religious circle will present a different approach for thinking about the problems of the enriched poverty due to economic disparity, deterioration of climate change, human rights infringement caused by intense business competition.
- At the G20 Summit last year in Argentina, it could be said that "Own Country First Policy" claimed by the U.S. President Donald Trump, gained an advantage over "Principle of International Cooperation". It is thought that the trend will be handed over to this year’s G20 Summit in Osaka. Therefore, along with the Japanese Government’s stance, it needs to reaffirm the significance of each international treaty showing international cooperation such as the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, SDGs, measures against global warming, global compact for refugees etc. and religious circle will push it.
- To the vision of a highly developed science and technology society such as AI, electronic currency, robot weapons and the accumulation of enormous personal information, the religious circle will present messages to the questions; "What is human nature?" and "How should humans face science and technology?"
- At the G20 Osaka Summit, the Government of Japan will uphold a response to the aging society as its own theme. The government is also planning to discuss about the pension, nursing care, medical care and other systems. In response, we present a unique message to the aging society from religious value.
We consider this year's G20 Interfaith Forum in Kyoto as a golden opportunity for Japanese religious circle to send out to the world and will call for cooperation as many religious peoples who act in good faith as possible.
